Replacing bottle

I’m a little disappointed for some reason these bottles are do not snap and I bought two generation to generation three one of each and there’s a plastic to plastic ledges that are preventing the bottle snapping and I’m about to take my pliers and break those two plastics off to see if I can get the bottles to work cause I love them but the mop love it but I don’t know how I lost the bottle weight I just moved recently and I think I lost a lot of things but that’s here nor there
